Chainle
Chainle [word chain] is a game of language and creativity! Sounds easy enough: You will receive two or more words and must think of a word that connects the two. But don't rush to answer. The most obvious connection isn't always the best connection, and often the most unpredictable term will get you the highest score.
Chainle: In each round of Chainle, you'll get a short bunch of words. You need to guess a word that connects them and try to determine how strong that link is. The closer you are to the strongest connection in the game, the better your score will be.
Don't Just Go With the First Word You Think Of
With Chainle, it is difficult to understand how each word ties into your answer independently. For example, you might look at cake & girlfriend and right away think "birthday." That's logical because birthday cake is an obvious pair, and birthdays are generally associated with girlfriends. But perhaps the association isn't quite as strong for both nouns. But there may be a far better answer, like "bride."
In some rounds you have three words, which makes it even harder. Such as board, fan, and forum. Think subscriber or follower, and something like member may be a better word to associate all three with. Rather of just thinking of a term that goes with a single hint, Chainle awards you for identifying the one theme that ties them together.
It's a good idea to evaluate each hint individually before coming up with an answer. Compare your word against all the words on the screen. Don't become too invested in your first estimate, either. Just spending a little time on other options can go a long way.
Tips to Dominate Your Friends with Chainle
- When you give your answer, you will receive feedback from Chainle on how good your link was and how near you were to the actual link. This critique will give you an idea of the kinds of word pairings the game is going for and enhance your guesses in future rounds, too.
- You may find that a word you scarcely considered was actually a much better response. For example, "poultry" may be a better answer for turkey than simply "bird" or "meat." It more accurately narrows down the category and makes a stronger connection between the two words.
- Experiment, persist, learn from your outcomes, and see how many good links you can create. Ready for a word challenge? Check out Chainle and see how close you can come to the top answers.
