Solitaire Klondike

Solitaire Klondike is the most popular version of Solitaire (a single-player card game). With just a 52-card deck and about 10-15 minutes, you can start a challenging game.

The game originated in the late 1800s and is believed to be associated with the Klondike gold rush in Canada. Since then, it has become one of the most familiar card games on computers and mobile phones.

How to play Solitaire Klondike

Your task is to place all 52 cards onto the four foundation piles at the top. Each pile represents a suit (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades). The cards must be arranged correctly according to suit, in ascending order from Ace (A) to King (K). When all cards are placed on the foundation, you win.

Initial arrangement

Divide the cards into seven columns. The first column has one card, and the last column has seven cards. Only the top card of each column is face up; the rest are face down. The remaining cards are set aside as the Stock (draw cards). From here, you will draw more cards during the game.

Card Movement Rules

In the main area (Tableau), you can only place a card on top of another if it is one rank lower and of a different colour (alternating red and black).

Example: A red 6 can be placed on a black 7, but not on a red 6. If you move a card with an entire stack underneath, the entire stack will go with it. Once you reveal a face-down card, you can use it as normal.

Tips and Tricks

The real goal in the early stages isn't to push your hand to the Foundation immediately but to reveal as many face-down cards in the Tableau as possible. Each face-down card is a mystery. The earlier you reveal them, the more options you have and the less likely you are to get stuck in the middle of the game.

Opening an empty column = opening the game. An empty column is gold. Since only King can be placed in an empty column, don't create an empty column if you don't already have a King. Prioritise choosing a king who reveals the most face-down cards. An empty column allows you to rotate the board, especially when you need to make long sequences of moves.
