Size It Up

Size It Up is a puzzle game that will challenge your skill at estimating size. In every round you are presented with two objects and need to resize one to make it proportional to the other. Once you pick an answer, the game shows you the real dimensions and awards you points based on how close you got.

The fun lies in the fact that familiar objects don't always have the proportions you might expect. An airplane, a superyacht, a video game character, or even two countries can present size differences that are difficult to gauge by eye alone.

Guess the scale and score points in Size It Up

Each round begins with a pair of objects to compare. You use the on-screen controls to drag or adjust the size of the object in question, locking in your choice when the scale looks right to you.

Accuracy determines your score

After you submit your answer, Size It Up displays both your estimated size and the actual size. Your score depends on how close you were to the correct answer; simply guessing which is larger isn't enough to guarantee a high score if the proportional difference is significant.

You may encounter some surprising results. Objects that appear massive might turn out to be much smaller than expected, while familiar items could be significantly larger.

Overconfidence can be misleading

This game is a test not only of your knowledge, but also of your ability to visualize scale. You can also compare various fictional characters, a bluefin tuna to a bison, a superyacht to an Airbus A380, and so on. Your intuitive sense of scale is not always reliable.

A variety of topics to test your "Size IQ"

Questions are categorized into different groups, ensuring a unique challenge in every round.

Geography

The section on geography asks you to compare the size or area of places and regions. For example, you will be comparing the area of Papua New Guinea with the area of Norway, Singapore with Shanghai, South Korea with Spain or Belgium with Belarus. This category requires good map visualization skills as the size shown on the map is not always a true reflection of the actual surface area.

Pop Culture

The pop culture category features familiar characters and objects from movies, video games, and mainstream media. Examples include Papa Smurf, Sulley, Darth Vader, an AT-ST, Magikarp, Crash Bandicoot, and Groot.

Landmarks and Real-World Objects

The game also presents pairs of vastly different objects—such as Mont Blanc versus Mount Everest, a cricket bat versus a Coca-Cola can, Great Bear Lake versus Great Salt Lake, or the Azim Super Yacht versus an Airbus A380.

This variety means you cannot rely on a single type of knowledge. Some questions require factual data, others demand good visualization skills, and some essentially force you to guess.

A Game of Intuition and Data

Size It Up is perfect for quick sessions where each question serves as a rapid test of your estimation skills. There are no characters to control or complex systems to memorize. The challenge lies entirely in looking at two objects, visualizing their relative proportions, and deciding on the size before locking in your answer.

After each round, the actual results reveal where your size estimates were off. Then the more you play the better your intuitive sense of scale will be for future questions .

If you enjoy trivia games that rely on observation and wordplay, Word Scramble shifts the challenge from estimating sizes to rearranging letters into the correct words.
