Drift Hunters
Drift Hunters is a driving game focused on drifting techniques. You don't need to win races; just drifting smoothly is enough to make it worthwhile. In the game, you start with a completely stock car. Drifting is still possible, but the wheels slide erratically in all directions, smoke billows, and the grip feels a bit… strange. The game claims to be realistic drift, but sometimes it feels more like sliding on thin ice than on a real road.
How to Play Drift Hunters
Getting familiar with the controls
- Up Arrow / W: Accelerate
- Down Arrow / S: Brake
- Left & Right Arrows / A & D: Turn left/right.
- Space Key: Handbrake – This is the most important key to start a drift.
- Left Shift Key: Gear up – If you choose manual mode.
- Left Ctrl key: Gear down – If you choose manual mode.
Drifting to earn money
There are no multiplayer races or first-place finishes. What you need to do is keep the car drifting for as long as possible to accumulate drift combo points, thereby earning money to unlock and upgrade cars. The scoring system is quite good, and combos don't break unexpectedly.
Car customization
You can adjust everything: turbo, front and rear camber, ride height, braking force… It sounds very technical, but the operation is rapid and simple, like a single click. However, car customization is limited to paint and parameters; there are no body kits, so it's a bit lacking if you like customizing the car's appearance.
Features
Drift Hunters has about 20 unlockable cars, but what's a bit strange is that there are front-wheel-drive cars in a drift game. This makes the experience a little… out of sync. The map isn't very large either, enough for drifting around but not enough to create a sense of exploration.
On the bright side, the game lacks a damage system, so you can freely throw your car around, try stunts, crash into walls, and then drift again as if nothing happened.
Drift Hunters isn't a perfect game, but it has a playful, addictive quality that you'll get hooked on before you know it. If you enjoy the feeling of controlling your car as it slides through corners, it's still a decent option to kill time. And if you want to switch to a different but still engaging physics experience, you can try Stickman Hook.
