How to play Christmas Heardle

Players will start by listening to a very short segment from any Christmas song, then make an initial prediction. If you guess correctly, you win and can move to Unlimited mode to continue playing other puzzles.

If you guess wrong, the music will be expanded so that you can more easily find the name of that melody. Continue guessing up to a maximum of six times; after that, the game will end.

Tips and Tricks

Recognise the music genre from the first beat

  • If you hear simple chords and a melody that is easy to sing along to, it is likely a traditional Christmas carol (Silent Night, Deck the Halls).
  • If the melody is cheerful, fast-paced, and has swing or jazz instruments, it is likely a Christmas jazz/swing (Jingle Bells, Let It Snow!).
  • Modern pop melodies with electronic beats or electronic instruments → Christmas pop (All I Want for Christmas Is You, Last Christmas).

Listen to the lyrics and theme

  • If the song mentions family, home, or love, choose traditional/American ballads (I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas).
  • If the song mentions snow, winter, fun, or Santa Claus, it's usually fun pop or pop music (Frosty the Snowman, Winter Wonderland).
  • If there are religious words, God and angels → religious songs/hymns (O Come All Ye Faithful, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing).

Identify famous artists

  • Female pop voice with a lot of high notes → Mariah Carey (All I Want for Christmas Is You).
  • Deep, slightly nostalgic voice → Michael Bublé or Elvis Presley (Blue Christmas).
  • Young, modern voice → Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber.
